The Rad File Manager Is Source Available Software All our software is either open source or source available, the file manager falls into the second category and you can license the source code. You also have the option of obtaining the source code for either the server component, the client component or both. Only one developer may use the code at any given time and compiled binaries can be installed only on a single website or computer. For each additional installation you need to obtain additional license. Deep discounts are available for such additional licenses). Server Component (Web Application) In the Rad File Manager the role that is played by an FTP or SFTP server is taken over by a web application built using the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) or PHP. Java Web Application The java edition is made up of a collection of servlets, JSP and class libraries. They are combined together and labeled the Rad File Web Application Source Code license. (In the standard download these are available as compiled binaries). It is available of a fee of $1900. PHP Web Application In the case of the PHP edition the scripts have not been encoded and as a result the standard download does include the source code. Therefor you do not need to pay any additional license fees for the source code. However the standard conditions including not distributing the code still applies. Client Component The client component of the application is available as an applet or as a standalone client. Source licenses for both these are available under slightly different conditions. Both clients are made using Java technology and they can be used on almost any computer with a recent version of the Java virtual machine. Applet The source code for the applet is priced at $1490.00 once you obtain a license only one developer may work on it at any given moment. The applet produced by compiling this code can be installed only on a single website or computer. For additional installations separate binary licenses are available with attractive volume discounts. Desktop client The desktop (standalone) client license is available for $1490.00 as with the java applet license only one developer may use the code at a given time. Once you compile the source into a binary code, you may make up to a 1000 copies of this binary and distribute the binary to your own clients. The desktop edition is nearly identical to the file manager applet except for the fact that the applet runs in the context of your browser where as the stand alone version is not dependent on the browser. If you wish to obtain the source code for all three components (the server, the applet and the standalone client) the license fee works out to $3500 which leads to a saving of $1270.
