The Rad File Manager.

A File Transfer Program but it's not FTP

The Rad File Manager can be used on almost any website to allow it's visitor to upload or download files. If you have used a GUI based FTP or Secure FTP client you will find that most of the features we describe are similar to what you find on such systems. The difference however is that ours is an HTTP client.

Upload

The File Manager is capable of uploading several thousand files and directories to your server. A record will be created in the database for each file that is uploaded. When directories are chosen for upload their structure (tree) will be automatically recreated on the server. This makes it really easy for your site's visitors to organize their files.

Download

The file manager is a download manager. With traditional HTML only applications, when downloading files your website's visitors will have to manually click on each file available for download. Not so with our file manager. Even thousands of files can be selected for download at once. If the files are organized into different directories, this same structure will be created locally with the file manager automatically creating sub directories as needed.

Prune and Graft

We have already mentioned that the File Manager will automatically create folders to preserve the directory structure with uploads and downloads. It possible for users to directly manipulate these directories as well by adding new ones and renaming or deleting old ones. To state the obvious, files can also be renamed and deleted in this manner.

Though thousands of users may make use of the software, you do not need to create a different system account for each user.
