The Java Edition

A web based file management system with the server side components made up of java servlets and JSPs. The User Interface for the application is an applet that has the appearence of an FTP or SFTP client as well as the fucntionality that you find in such clients.

The filemanager is an HTTP client. All the uploads and downloads are sent through an HTTP connection. Other tasks such as renaming files, creating or deleting directories etc are also carried out in the form of HTTP requests. Thus the servlets and JSPs implement or rather simulate the functionality that you expect of a FTP server.

The java edition of the Rad File Manager can includes a graphical installer, which will produce a Web Application Archive which can be easily deployed on most servlet containers. All that the end user of the software (your website's visitors) need to make use of the product is a java enabled web browser.

A record for each file that is uploaded will be created in a Postgresql database, when the file is modified the database is updated accordingly and when the file is deleted the record will be removed from the database.
